SUPPLIES

Optional: ribbon, charms, or anything else you’d like to use to decorate your Christmas ornament. I used some heart stamping charms I had leftover from when I used to make jewelry, and I LOVE the look they created; I found similar ones on Amazon here.

A note about the jute: pick something that has a bit of stiffness; this will make threading the beads super easy.

Looking for an easy DIY Christmas gift? These wood bead Christmas tree ornaments are SO EASY and affordable to make. Seriously, they come together in minutes and will give you that minimalist, neutral Chrastmas tree of your dreams. #festive #gifting…
Googling “christmas ornaments homemade”? I got you. These DIY neutral wood bead ornaments would look so good on any Christmas tree and even as gifts. Imagine putting these ornaments on top of a beautifully wrapped gift! Wow. The best part? They are …

STEP ONE: CUT YOUR TWINE & TIE A LOOP AT THE END

Decide how long you want your ornament to be and then add five inches (so you have enough length to tie knots and make loops). Then cut a piece of jute that length. Don’t stress about this too much because these ornaments are very forgiving. If I’m being totally honest, I eyeballed it most of the time and had fun creating different lengths and patterns. I warned you that I’m an impatient crafter!

Once you have your length of jute, tie a loop at one end; I just doubt knotted it, but if you’re a knot expert, then go ahead and do something fancier.

STEP TWO: STRING YOUR BEADS

This is where it gets fun! There are no rules here, so play around with different sized beads and patterns.

I love a good handmade, affordable Christmas gift. These Christmas ornaments are made with wood beads and look SO festive. I love holiday decor, especially when it’s affordable and pretty! You can make these ornaments in minutes and get the material…

STEP THREE: TIE THE KNOT

Once you have an ornament that you’re happy with, just tie a knot a couple times at the end of the jute so the beads don’t slip off. Try to make it as close to your final bead as possible so there’s not a lot of “blank” jute showing at the top of the ornament when it’s hanging on the tree. If you don’t want to add anything else to the bottom of the ornament, you’re done! Seriously, that’s it. Can you believe it?! If you have excess jute at the bottom, give it a trim with scissors.

OMG these wood bead Christmas ornaments with gold hearts are EVERYTHING. I love the minimalist, neutral design and they would be perfect for my natural, modern traditional Christmas tree. The best part? They are SO easy and affordable - I love a goo…

OPTIONAL - STEP FOUR: GET FANCY

If you want to add more detail to your tree ornaments, you can attach a bow (I used this tutorial to make my own), charms, a tassel, or anything else you can think of. To attach each item, all I did was tie a knot around it and then trim the ends.

I can’t even. Wood bead crafts are my fave thing and I never even thought of making Christmas tree ornaments out of them - duh! I’ve made garlands before, but this is the perfect handmade Christmas gift. DIY Christmas decorations are a affordable ho…

And would you look at that — no swearing or throwing things was involved in this DIY! I originally was going to make these as gifts, but I’m going to have to make another batch because I’m absolutely keeping these for myself. If you make them, don’t forget to tag me on Instagram or leave a comment below. Happy holidays!
