The first piece of clothing you think of when you hear the word “fall” probably isn’t a maxi dress; breezy boho dresses are usually reserved for beaches, sunny summer weekends, and vacations.
But I’m here to challenge that. I love wearing seasonal clothing year-round, and in an effort to maximize my closet, I've been wearing maxi dresses in the spring, summer, and well into fall.
HOW TO WEAR A MAXI DRESS IN THE FALL
There are a few ways to do it, but it essentially involves layering by adding one of the following:
- A cardigan
- A sweater
- A jacket
- A long sleeved shirt
Once you’re layered up, swap sandals for fall footwear and add some fall-inspired makeup (like this dark lipstick).
The great thing about this approach is that maxi dresses are usually on sale in the fall and winter, so now is the perfect time to stock up. This Tobi black lace maxi dress is currently 50% off (if you aren’t familiar with the website, read my Tobi review here), but I’ve also rounded up a few favourites that caught my eye below.
